THE ANIMAL FEEDS MARKET ON 23/01 – 28/01/2023

CORN

Closing the session on January 23, the price of CBOT maize fell by $3.9 per ton, the price went down due to the influence of information about rainy weather that took place last weekend in agricultural areas of Argentina, helping the market to ease worries, concern about damage to maize crops.

Session on January 24, Ngo CBOT price turned to increase again after 4 sessions of decline. However, in the session on January 25, corn prices continued to decrease.

Closing the session on January 26, corn price increased sharply by $ 3.1/ton due to positive information about US export activities, with US export sales in the week from January 13 to January 19 at 925.9 thousand tons.

At the end of the last trading session of the week on January 27, the price of CBOT corn did not change much when it only increased slightly by 0.2 USD/ton.

WHEAT  

Following the market decline on January 23, the price of CBOT wheat plummeted by $7.9 per tonne as the weather rained across the Great Plains of the United States, bringing much-needed moisture to winter crops.

Closing the session on January 24 and January 25, CBOT wheat prices increased because traders were concerned that the conflict situation would tend to become more intense between Russia and Ukraine, which could negatively affect the supply of grain to the market.

Not out of trend, CBOT wheat price increased by 4.1 USD/ton at the close of January 26 session.

Ending the last session of the week, wheat price fell slightly by 0.9 USD/ton after 3 consecutive strong increases. In general, the market is still concerned about the prospect of grain exports from the Black Sea region when the conflict situation in Ukraine tends to become more intense.

SOYBEAN AND SOYBEAN MEAL

Like maize, the session on January 23 marked the 4th consecutive decrease of soybean meal, due to the influence of weather information. In Brazil, farmers are in the early stages of soybean harvest in 2022/23, with production prospects expected to reach an all-time high thanks to expanded planting acreage and favorable weather.

Closing session 24/1, soybean and soybean meal prices continued to decrease by 0.7 and 2.3 USD/ton. However, at the close of January 25, soybean and soybean meal prices adjusted to increase again to 5.1 and 6.3 USD/ton, respectively, after 5 decreasing sessions.

Soybean and soybean meal prices increased by 7.7 and 12.8 USD/ton, respectively, due to the impact of US exports with more than 1.27 million tons in the week from January 13 to January 19.

At the end of the last trading session of the week 27/1, the price of soybeans and soybean meal CBOT adjusted down again to 5.1 and 4 USD/ton, after having increased strongly in the previous 2 sessions.
